“I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable.” -
Jeremiah 2:7
You can just go ahead and call me the Christian Hippy …
God calls us to be good stewards of the things that he has blessed us with – including the earth! Earth Day to me is not about “Mother Nature” it’s about recognizing God’s amazing creation. It’s about making an effort to spread awareness and the desire to take care of this once fertile land that he so freely gave us. I truly think that it saddens our God when he sees us being wasteful with energy, food, natural resources etc. We are a gluttonous people. We really have defiled his land and stripped it of its richness. Let’s treat every day as if it were Earth Day and love and respect this amazing ground that we were given in every way possible. Next time you go to throw that “only tiny piece of paper” out the car window, throw that can in the trash vs. recycle, leave your lights on when you leave the house and so on- think about it all as being a blessing from God that we cant just take advantage of. I encourage us all to be mindful of these abundant gifts. Someday… they may not be so abundant.
